Activity 1

Take ten minutes and write down your first thoughts for each of these questions, and then share those thoughts in a pair share.

1. How do you know if people trust you? Put aside your defenses and seek honest feedback. What objective evidence do you have?

2. How do you view leadership? If you believe in shared leadership, how do you demonstrate this belief? What evidence can you offer?

3. There is really only one way for you to accurately self-assess. Look yourself in the mirror and think about the three focus students. What would each of them say about their relationship with you? Is it based on caring? Do you have high expectations for them and support them? Do you value their participation? What evidence would they put forth about you? If have the courage, ask for their feedback.

4. Think of an important change that happened in your life. What caused it? How did you respond? What did you learn about yourself?

5. How do you act as a leader? Write about specific times when you have advocated for a student and specific time when you have led a group to consensus.
