Activity 1
Scenario: Alberto is in the 9 th grade this year in a Learning Disabilities SDC class. His IEP goal states that he will write a 4 paragraph essay from a book he has read. Alberto can read at a 3rd grade level but has difficulty with organizing his thoughts and the physical aspect of writingS. His writing is laborious and illegible, and therefore he becomes frustrated with the writing task, producing very little written work. What assistive technology needs, if any, does Alberto have? Be specific. What should the team take into consideration when determining this need? Who should be part of Alberto’s assistive technology team and what are the roles and responsibilities each of these members should have? What types of possible AT solutions can you generate?
