Activity 1
Jennifer is in the 10 th grade this year in a Learning Disabilities SDC class. Her IEP goal states that she will write a 5-paragraph essay from a book she has read. Jennifer can read at a 6th grade level but has difficulty with motor planning and writing. Her writing is laborious and illegible, and therefore she becomes frustrated with the writing task, and produces very little written work. It often takes Jennifer several minutes to produce a sentence. What assistive technology needs, if any, does Jennifer have? Be specific. Understanding what assistive technology is for writing, in which area is Jennifer’s need? Mechanics, expression, or both? What are some strategies that you would use to find the appropriate technology for Jennifer? What technology, low to high tech, do you think would assist Jennifer with writing? |
