Small Group Activity 1 - Opening Activity
As a group the class discusses their research on the following journal
prompt:
Session 1: Activity 4-Journal Prompt
To prepare for session 2, all students completed the following homework
assignment: visit a local high school and investigate their transition
programs .As part of your investigation, be prepared to answer the following
questions:
- What SCANS skills are being taught as part of this high school's School
To-Career Curriculum?
- Which of Dr. Grubb's Vocational Integration Models is being implemented?
Provide a brief summary outlining the main components of this school's
vocational model (i.e.-courses offered, student population served, students'
work experiences, local businesses involved, connections with local
junior colleges).
The teacher facilitates the classroom discussion and calls on 4-5 students
to share their journal responses on SCANS skills and the types of high
school vocational programs, which they observed.
