Group 1: Read the following sections: Form, New School, Ongoing Process, Andrea, pp. 33-35).
Group 2: Read the following sections: Two Learning Approaches, Career Exploration & Work Based Learning, & Assessing the Learning (pp. 35-37).
Group 3: Read the following sections: Looking Ahead, Computers, and
Staying Flexible (pp. 37-40).
Note: When reading, each group should take notes. After reading in small groups, the entire class meets for a group discussion. A representative from each group shares five main concepts learned from their assigned reading. Topics that should be addressed in the large group discussion are as follows:
1. Describe the academyís house program and how it promotes student learning?
2. Describe the academy structure.
3. Discussion of the schedule of Andrea - a typical academy student.
4. Describe the Career Exploration and Work-Based Learning projects offered to all academy students.
