Session Objectives

Teachers will be instructed in the use of attending, or listening, skills in the alternative education classroom. Basic helping skills are introduced with a review of attending skills. Practice of attending skills concludes the session.

In this session, teachers will be able to:

  • Review attending skills as a method of interpersonal communication in the classroom.
  • Review cultural concerns in attending skills.
  • Practice attending skills as a method of interpersonal communication.
  • Observe attending skills in self and others.
