Objectives

Teachers will understand how Anglo-Saxon letter-sound correspondences are organized. They will learn the most frequently used consonant and vowel patterns.

Teachers will be able to:
§ Survey the spelling rules applicable to Anglo-Saxon letter-sound correspondences.
§ Design a lesson for high school students on the use of –ck.
§ Discuss how phonetic and non-phonetic words differ.
§ Identify consonant blends, consonant digraphs, and vowel digraphs in words.
