Teacher Assessment of Student Performance in
Alternative and Correctional Education Facilities

Objectives

Teachers will explore the question "What specific assessment and instructional strategies will result in increased performance and more acceptable behaviors for students with different disabilities in alternative education settings?" Teachers will be able to:

  • Discuss the Levels of Interpersonal Skills model for assessing and planning effective instructional and behavioral interventions

  • Analyze the level of complexity at which an individual typically functions

  • Plan activities and strategies to support the individual in moving into more complex activity levels

  • Explain how communicative disorders affects both learning and behavior and strategies to assess and intervene with expressive and receptive language delays.

  • Select appropriate modifications in the assessment process to maximize learning and minimize frustration

  • Select appropriate interventions to maximize effectiveness of instructional process.
