Objectives

  1. Students will gain an understanding of the academic and vocational components of the Chicago Vocational Career Academy.

  2. Students will learn about the academic and vocational components of the St. Louis Career Academy.

  3. Students will learn about school-to-career experiences offered at the St. Louis and the Chicago Academies.

  4. Students will explore reasons that both academies were able to offer a positive educational environment in which inner city urban students were able to succeed at school.

  5. Students will review the research on the Central Park East School, an exemplary high school program. In reviewing this information, students will learn how this school's transition programs were developed and factors contributing to its ongoing success.
