Objectives

Building upon concepts introduced in Session 1 and 2, teachers-in-training will explore key factors associated with building successful parent support groups. Teachers will be introduced to factors which contribute to the successful academic and social-emotional growth of students as well as strengthening of parent/student relationships. Teachers will be able to:

  • Identify the key elements of a successful parent support group

  • Explore the different stages of a group meeting

  • Understand the importance of flexibility and creativity in group success

  • Develop a plan for a successful parent group meeting
