Facilitative Communication in the Classroom

Objectives

Teachers will be instructed in the use of facilitative responses. Primarily, an overview of types of facilitative responses will be presented and followed by application of facilitative responding to hypothetical student statements.

In this session, teachers will be able to:

  • Review facilitative responding and non-facilitative responding.

  • Review types of facilitative responses as communication tools for use in the classroom.

  • Practice writing facilitative responses to hypothetical student statements.

  • Practice using facilitative responses in a role play activity.
