Other Promising Counseling Interventions
for the Classroom

Objectives

In this session, the discussion of counseling interventions that are useful in the alternative education setting continues. Teachers will be instructed in using several individual counseling techniques in the classroom. In addition, students will review concepts and applications related to using group and family interventions in the school setting.

In this session, teachers will be able to:

  • Review components of effective counseling programs for use with students who are at-risk or high-risk.

  • Review components of effective individual, group, and family interventions in schools.

  • Review information on selecting and using counseling interventions in the alternative education classroom.

  • Practice counseling intervention programs in the classroom using an example case study.

  • Discuss comprehensive counseling practices using an example case study.
