Directions:Ý The purpose of this activity is to give you an opportunity to improve your grading system.Ý Answer the following questions based on your grade book.Ý If you do not have a grade book, work with someone who does.Ý

1.Ý Are the grades based on course objectives?Ý What evidence is there in the grade book that indicates that this is true?

2.Ý Are the grades based on multiple sources?Ý If yes, what are those sources?Ý If no, how can you make so your grades will be based on multiple sources?

3.Ý Have you ever taught your students the grading system?Ý If yes, how did you teach it to them?Ý If no, how will you teach it to them?

4.Ý How often do you monitor and give students feedback about their academic progress?Ý Do you think you should continue providing the same, increase, or decrease the amount of monitoring and feedback?

5.Ý How is the grading system motivational to students?Ý How can you make it more motivational?

6.Ý How is the grading procedures related to district guidelines?

Ý7.Ý Do you modify your assessment procedures based on the needs of the students?Ý What modifications do you use?Ý What modifications should you be using?Ý How will you implement these modifications in your classroom?

8.Ý Are the grading procedures in the alternative educational setting different than those in other educational settings?Ý If yes, how and why?

9.Ý What grading issues are most perplexing for teachers in alternative settings?Ý What procedures can be developed to improve upon these issues?
